Testimonials

Katrina Bulmer:
Member of the Hornsby Relay organising committee, and survivor of cervical cancer "Sometimes when people are suffering from cancer you can feel a bit helpless and you feel you can't do anything. But this is actually a proactive thing to do. You can feel like you're doing something and that your actually helping out to help find a cure".

Jill White, Barraba Relay:
"The Relay was wonderful. Everyone wanted to help. Three local bands donated their time and talents to entertain the crowds and another team member baked an Easter cake, which was raffled for $300. There were games for the kids and masseurs worked for a donation".

Justine Geake, Hawkesbury Gazette Relay team:
"Editorial and advertising staff from the Hawkesbury Gazette participated in the Relay because at the paper we'd been heavily involved in promoting it and knew exactly what it was about. We had an absolute blast participating - the cold watches of the late night shift and the wee early hours were some of the most fun as the camaraderie of the teams all working to the same goal was just fantastic. We'll be there with bells on for the next one."

Anndrena Filippi and her son Gavin

Anndrena Filippi, Wollongong Relay:
"The Relay was energising, exciting and a great way to make friends. A good friend, who was diagnosed with breast cancer, described the Relay as an 'Anzac Day for cancer'. She was referring to the camaraderie amongst people as they walk the track - you can talk to anyone about your cancer experience, which you can't always do in everyday life. That makes me feel that the work is worthwhile'.

Uta Lucky, Willoughby Relay Captain:
"Participating in Relay For Life was a very memorable experience. To raise money for this most important cause I lost my locks at the Relay and our team raised over $6000. As soon as a business associate learnt that I was shaving my head, he pledged $1000 and others, including friends and family followed suit."
